Session 02

Game Date: 07/03/2023

Investigating the trail in the brush, Logain finds that this is a pathway well worn by goblins. He can also see signs of two human-sized bodies being hauled away from the ambush site.

The group decide to pull the wagon to the side of the road and hide it with some brush, which they do expertly.

Keith leads the party into the wooded path with DiGiorno and Logain in tow. As the group walks through the forest, Digiorno begins singing a song while Logain keeps an eye out for any additional goblins. Keith trudges forward, stepping on a snare trap, but jumps backward before the rope can grab hold of his foot. Logain asks Keith if he knows who set the trap. He sees a bunch of goblin tracks scattered about everywhere, as they have been for a mile, and replies, “Probably goblins.”

As the group continues on down the trail, Keith yells back to Logain, “So what’s your deal? Where’re you from?” Logain answers, “The city.” DiGiorno asks “From the streets?”. Logain replies that he is not from the streets. Keith, distracted by the conversation, steps onto false flooring, giving way to a pit trap. He quickly grabs the other end of the pit, avoiding a devastating tumble. Logain comes around to the other side of the pit to help him up.

After a few more miles the party comes to the clearing with some brush on either side and a stream running down the middle originating from a cave opening in the rock walls ahead. DiGiorno splashes in the water for a second and it seems to be shallow at only about a foot deep. Logain and Digiorno sneak off to one side of the entrance where they can see a goblin across from them in a blind. Keith wants to sneak up as well but instead clomps loudly up alerting the goblins. Keith adeptly rushes them cleaving one in half with his Battleaxe and doing the same to the other with his longsword.

Logain can sees a wolf in the cave near the entrance and alerts the others. Keith decides grab both goblin corpses and throws them in front of the wolf to satiate it. Doing so brings two more previously unseen wolves and they can now see that they are all chained to a post. The wolves are now focused on eating and only notice the party when they approach too closely to their meals.

The party travels further into the cave, discovering a few more pathway openings and a rickety wooden bridge that lays 20ft off the ground, intersecting the current pathway. Keith throws DiGiorno up onto the bridge and when she lands she immediately lights a torch, since she’s been essentially blind this whole time. She sees a goblin before her. It strikes her taking her downto the edge of unconsciousness. Logain targets the goblin, seeing only the top of its head from his vantage point, hitting it with 1 Jim’s magic missile in the head. Keith rushes to the bridge to try and catch DiGiorno if she falls, which she does. DiGiorno clumsily stumbles over the side of the bridge and Keith leaps up catching her effortlessly, twirling around before softly landing and gently setting her down in the shallow water. The goblin scurries off out of sight.

The team takes a short rest.

Keith walks further up the trail when a rush of water, coming from the area ahead, slams into him. He does not budge. Neither does Logain. DiGiorno is briefly swept back before rolling out onto the dry area.

After the water subsides, the group makes their way back up the pathway to an area with a large pool that has been split into two smaller ones. The first pool looks depleted and is most likely where the torrent of water originated. Peaking around a corner they come across the bridge goblin and one of his cohorts. Logain shoots a Jim’s Magic missile and hits the bridge goblin in the exact same place, burrowing the magical dart into his skull, killing him. He throws a second missile at the second goblin killing him as well.

DiGiorno moves under Logain. Another goblin appears and approaches the two. DiGiorono casts “Disguise self”, creating an illusion that she is a to be a one foot taller, buffer version of herself. The additional one foot of illusion bleeds into Logain terrifying the goblin who slashes his scimitar at him.

A fourth goblin appears, standing behind the bodies of his fallen comrades and he shoots an arrow at DiGiorno’s head, which is an illusion, and misses her actual body.
